Manuel Solà

Manuel Solá emerges from a long and rich sculptural tradition whose origins lie in the revolutionary efforts with objets trouvés by Picasso, Miró and Duchamp. Using everyday elements and industrial detritus, Solá joins this Modernist society creating sculptures of iron, wood and stone of an intense vitality. Their strong verticality recalls the totems and ceremonial figures of African and Oceanic cultures, and like them, give material sense to a spiritual world shared by all mankind.

They are prayers to a world that is collapsing, offered humbly and simply; offerings rendered with the hope that we learn that our similarities unite us more than the differences that separate us.
